Greek Escapes: A Complete Website to Plan Your Next Holiday to Greece

Greek Escapes is one of the leading names for planning holidays to Greece, with a positive reputation for more than four decades. The company is distinguished for leisure, group, and customized travel plans, offering unique experiences to its clients. The company has its own office in Athens and offers English-speaking assistance to tourists who need it. They came to us to develop their website that aligns with the requirements of modern travelers.

Client requirements

The company prioritized a complete revamp of the website to meet current standards. They had a functional website beforehand, but it had way too many glitches that affected the user experience. Additionally, it was not updated according to the modern travel website requirements. Along with details on the different types of holiday packages, the clients also wanted to book one themselves. The client needed proper action buttons on their new websites so they could take control of their vacation planning to Greece.

Project Goals and Objectives

Greek Escapes needed a fully functional website that offers speed, a seamless experience, and efficient booking. They wanted us to create the site using WordPress, creating an advanced CMS platform with custom inquiry features. The features would help users plan their holiday by showing the exact dates and itinerary. They also wanted to take a look at the holiday plans for efficient planning.

Problems Faced by the Client
Problems Faced by the Client

The client’s existing website had too many problems, making it difficult to plan a full-fledged Greek holiday. The site lacked vital features and clear action buttons, so users did not take any action after browsing. The site's loading speed was also not in line with current requirements, resulting in a poor user experience. We identified all these issues and fixed them to create a more reliable framework.

Technical Issues
Technical Issues

The site had many technical issues prior to development. The loading speed, along with the inconsistent placement of the image and other visual elements, was a concern. Instead of high-quality images from real Greek holiday destinations, the website used stock images, which significantly hampered site speed and user experience. We also implemented proper security measures to protect the site from malware and other malicious attacks.

UI/UX Issues

The UI and UX of the website hindered a smooth user experience. We developed the site to prevent high bounce rates and user dissatisfaction. Our team followed an approach of using minimal features and functional buttons to ensure a better user experience on the site.

Challenges with Market Competition
Challenges with Market Competition

The market was flooded with various types of vacation planners and holiday websites that offered a smooth journey for customers. They also had a better website experience for viewing and navigating, with provisions for booking holiday packages. Based on our analysis of market realities, we could provide support to improve Greek Escapes' website.

User Research Findings

Based on the needs of the travel lovers, we created a fully functional Greek holiday website. We followed various procedures, including stakeholder interviews, analytics reviews, and usability edits, to work on the website. The extensive study on the website helped us reach the following conclusions:

  • Users faced challenges taking action on the website because there were no proper action buttons.
  • The slow loading and other performance issues undermined the site’s trustworthiness.
  • The website was not responsive across all devices, which we also worked on.
  • We provided quick access to features and trust signals to support better decision-making.

With these research findings, we redesigned the website of one of the leading Greek holiday companies.

Market Observations:
  • The competitors of Tempo Civil had a dominant visual branding, but few contained a structured user journey map.
  • A few of the competitors failed to articulate their value propositions clearly.

Audience Insights:
  • The primary users of the site were B2B clients seeking fast delivery services and workers who wanted to join the company.
  • Users wanted a seamless web experience with no roadblocks.
